At the Heart of Marketing

“There’s only so low you can go on price. There’s only so excellent you can make your product or service. There’s only so far you can stretch your marketing budget. Your heart, though—that’s boundless.” ~ Gary Vaynerchuk

Ultimately marketing is about you.

And them, of course.  It’s all about them.

Wait?  What?

You could have the greatest products in the world but if  people don’t trust you, they will go buy those greatest products in the world from someone they do trust!

In the end, it all comes down to the relationship.

The simplest thing to do is be real, be honest, be transparent in all that you do.  When you recommend others, don’t you always recommend the people who you felt listened to you, did right by you, helped you and that you trusted?  Of course.

Same goes online.  You  need to build a relationship based on trust with people who come to your site.

Because they are buying you as much as they are those products you are selling.

Often people come online wanting to make some extra money and they sign up as an affiliate and then post the standard affiliate page.   Nothing happens.  They are disappointed.  It never works.  There’s a millions affiliates out there.  You need to stand out.  Stand out by being you!

Do a page that represents you, your take on the product.  Do a page that shows that you understand what your readers are looking for and how this product will help them.  A page that is about you.   And about them.

Gary Vaynerchuk said so much with one simple sentence.  The key to marketing is to remember that behind every analytic report are people.  Connect with those people before you expect them to part with their money!

What is it about your product that you know will really help people?  How is it going to solve a problem for them?  How did it solve a problem for you or your family?  That’s where you start.  Where your story connects to their story!

“You need to spend all of your time and energy on creating something that actually brings value to the people you’re asking for money!” – Gary Vaynerchuk
